Band DetailsCollectively, Occasional Monster is roughly 125% of a 4 piece indie rock band from Central-ish Ohio. We don't do covers. We won't wash your dishes. We can't tell you who we sound like. *Begins to sing "These are a few of our favorite things"*. Musically, we are commonly described as Alternative, but such a one word description defies the complexity and schizophrenic range that is our hallmark. We range from acoustic folk to heavy music that rides the fence between hard rock and metal. During that journey between extremes, we traverse through other territories including old-school country, jazz, blues, funk, and noise. Sure, we are not the first band to pull off this smashup of genres, but we are among a select few that do it while maintaining equal importance for the art of songcraft. Not all songs are a journey, but you can be assured that you cannot faithfully predict where each new song may go by it’s first thirty seconds, nor it’s first four minutes. Personally, we have a liberal bias and a DIY attitude. We do all of our own writing and recording in our rehearsal space/studio. We have designed all of our graphics, built our website, and will eventually manufacture advanced electroshock devices to "discourage" usage of the phrase "get er dun." Ok, so I was kidding about the liberal bias. We are out to poke a hole in closed minds. Individually, we are composed of the following parts: Bobby Dunkle – Guitar Dan Sherwood – Guitar and Vocal Chords Jerod Elder – Bass and Vocal Chords Michael Knapp - Drums and Cymbals Ross Hockman - Trombone, Keyboard, Airsynth, Etc.. Listen. Enjoy. Comment if you desire. Thanks. - OM Post a Comment | |
