The Dark Horse is a Findlay tradition. It is under the ownership of Bob Oler who just seems to know how to run a good restaurant. I'd always heard of Dark Horse pizza (which they still make on Mondays - and it is excellent and CHEAP!), but the thing I'm most impressed with are the Dark Horse breakfasts. On most Saturday mornings, you can find Cathy and me at the Dark Horse where Cathy will normally order corned beef hash or a standard combo breakfast. I, on the other hand, have two different favorites. First and foremost is "Grandma Oler's Scramble" which consists of eggs, home fries, choice of meat (I pick bacon), and onion - all scrambled together. Then I top off the scramble with sausage gravy! It is awesome! My alternate breakfast is the breakfast quesadilla with chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and eggs. It too is a great way to start the weekend. These are usually accompanied by water and coffee, but on special occassions such as the morning of Ohio State/Michigan I like to toss in a Bloody Mary or two as well. |
