Easy Street Cafe

I've been dining at the Easy Street Cafe, 104 S. Main St., Bowling Green, for several years now and here's why I keep going back:

1. Good food, wide variety of choices.
2. Huge portions (I mean really huge!)
3. Reasonable prices
4. Great atmosphere
5. Good service
6. Grumpy Dave

Well, maybe not Grumpy Dave.  But the first five reasons are more than enough to put this place near the top of my list of eateries in Bowling Green for casual dining.

The restaurant's list of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and dinners is fairly extensive (Don't belive me, just ask for a 'Bison Burger').  I have found the food to be well prepared and the portions to be huge.  In fact, it is not unusal for myself and a guest to make an entire lunch of one of the appetizers.  Especially the Black Bean Dip, which I love. That, split two ways, and a couple of beers from the extensive 104 beer selection, and I am good to go.

I have read a couple of reviews that were critical of the service at Easy Street, but I have always had a satisfactory experience there, though I tend to frequent the place when it is not overly crowded.  Prices tend to be in the $5 - $10 range, with full dinners more expensive.  All in all, quite reasonable considering the portion size.

The upstairs floor of the restaurant is where the bar, known as Grumpy Dave's Pub, is located.  It features live entertainment and other events, as well as the aforementioned 104 beer selection.  Sample all 104 brands (not on the same night, I hope), and you will be inducted into the 'Hall of Foam Club'.

I would have to agree with your review. Especially when you mention the beer selection. I don't know of a restaurant or pub in the area that has a selection like E-St. Any true beer lover has to stop in and sample a few (hopefully with a beer hater along to drive home).

I went to Easy Street a couple weeks ago and was fairly impressed with the menu and the food. Did that building used to be a wild bar back in the 1970s and early 80s? I think I remember a place with a big pirhana tank... but then again - I really don't remember much of the 1970s...

I have always loved Easy Street, but the last time I was there, it was a Sunday evening, busy but not swamped and we had the worst service that I ever had. She took 20 minutes to get our drinks and up to a half hour for our meal. She never came back to inquire about our food after dropping it on the table. We had to go to the bar to refill our soft drinks. She was very busy chatting it up with the next table. I was entirely embarassed because I had brought along my new husband and my new stepchildren after bragging up the place. I have never been back.
