I saw Jethro Tull in 1977 at the Cincinnati Riverfront Colisium.  They didn't have an opening act - and I was totally blown away by the whole experience.  The sights, the sounds, the smells... and having an unknown girl pass out in my lap.  And the band was amazing.  Ian Andersont is not only a fantastic musician (floutist and vocalist) but is quite a showman.  The musicianship was impeccable and I bet they sound just as good today.  What are your top five favorite concerts?  Mine are:

1. Genesis - "And Then there were Three" tour.

2. Uriah Heep/ Judas Priest/Rush - Farewell to Kings tour.  Wow!!!

3. Legend Valley - John Cougar, Eddie Money, Cars, Cheap Trick, and Todd Rundgren/Utopia

4. Alice Cooper - you have to see him once in your life.  It's amazing.

5. Woodstock 94 - the overall experience... I saw: Collective Soul, Porno for Pyros, Candlebox, Joe Cocker, Blind Melon, Melissa Etheridge (covering Janis Joplin!), Crosby, Stills and Nash with John Sebastian of Loving Spoonful (playing Woodstock at a Woodstock!), Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Aerosmith, Grateful Dead and Friends (Bruce Hornsby/members of The Band), and Todd Rundgren.  Camped out in mud and rain.  I'll get some pictures up.

Re: Favorite Concerts

That's a tough one -

Stones concerts are definately 'events' - the crowd vibe is contagious and can be overwhelming.

I've seen McCartney twice - He is an awesome musical talent - you know you are in the presence of greatness.

One concert I will never forget was Santanna at an outdoor venue in Toledo many years ago. It happened to be July 4th, and as Carlos played, off in the distance fireworks began to go off. The fireworks were not connected with the concert - just cooincidental, but Carlos spontaneously began to improvise his guitar lead around them, jamming around the flashes and booms...that was a magical night!
